It’s a change of season, not just any season, it’s the warmer months once more. There’s no need for alarms everyone South Africa is doing “DAM” fine, under watchful river run eyes.

With all this moisture and slow but steady crop recovery, eating seasonally and locally just got even lekker-erer 🙂

It’s those months where I venture out so much more, for much-needed Vitamin-D and all the new tastes and flavours out here in Cape Town’s restaurants and local food markets. Most importantly, my forever hunt for the most tantalizing recipe inspirations to bring back, recreate and reinvent to be enjoyed here at DayToDay.

Carb Conscious – C – Steak, Edamame, and Citrus Greens

It’s amazing, how a simple and decadently tasty, French classic of Steak and Frites can sprout forth this elevated weeknight dinner wonder. Instead of deep-fried fries, we’re upping the healthy ante by adding crispy and crunchy, wholegrain mustard and orange zest dressed edamame and green beans. A prime sirloin steak, locally sourced and grain-fed, finished off with sweet charred roasted butternut roundels.

Okay, let’s all admit it, there has never been a time or season when one can say no to a deliciously cheesy bowl of pasta. Especially around this time, when English spinach is plump, all-over and sweet. When the week goes on with it’s usual and sometimes unexpected bustling and busy nature, I have envisioned a family-pleasing roasted cauliflower and spiced chorizo, throw me together in no time, nutty panko gratinated oven-baked weeknight winner.
